Governor Okezie Ikpeazu meets Osinbajo over development of SMEs in Aba


The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has met with the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo, to explore ways of developing Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) at Aba and Nigeria.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting held closed doors between the Governor and the Acting President at the Presidential Villa, Governor Ikpeazu said he was at the Villa on the invitation of the Acting President who is very much interested in the socioeconomic developments going on in Abia State, especially as it concerns MSMEs in Aba.

The Governor hinted that over the period of 2 years the operating environment for businesses at Aba and Abia State have improved and the federal government is seeking ways to partner with the State Government to fully return Aba, the commercial capital of Abia State, to its original status as a major thriving economic and industrial hub in Nigeria.

According to the Governor, the Acting President is of the view that Aba can support the federal government in realizing it’s economic targets in terms of job and wealth creation. He assured that the state is ready to work with the federal government.
It will be recalled that the Acting President, in January 2017, chose Aba as preferred location to launch the maiden edition of the nationwide MSME clinic.
The Acting President further informed the Governor at today’s meeting that plans have been concluded to invite selected entrepreneurs from Aba to Abuja for empowerment and other necessary support.
